Two open-air fires on a Moon River Street property morphed into wildfires shortly after 4:30 p.m.


Muskoka Lakes Hearth Division, with crews helping from Bala, Foots Bay and Glen Orchard, labored collectively to extinguish the open fires that had rapidly unfold into wildfires.


A second hearth was extinquished by Gravehurst Hearth Division and crews remained on-site to make sure scorching spots had been contained.


An Excessive hearth ban went into impact Thursday within the Muskokas because the dry climate has created hazardous hearth situations.
